Joni Sivey, LSW
Joni Sivey (she/her/hers) is a Licensed Social Worker in the state of Ohio. She holds a Masters in Clinical Psychology from California State University, Fullerton and a Masters of Social Work from The Ohio State University. She has been practicing as a social worker for over 8 years in California and Ohio.
Joni has experience working with adults and adolescents in residential, partial-hospitalization, and outpatient settings. She specializes in substance abuse, trauma, depression and anxiety, personality disorders, spirituality, and communication/relationship issues. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and enjoys incorporating EMDR with other treatment approaches.
Joni uses a variety of treatment modalities including: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Schema Therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Treatment is always tailored to client needs, current abilities, and client preferences. Joni seeks to combine the power of evidence-based treatment alongside a safe, empathetic relationship with clients.
Joni prides herself on being authentic, non-judgmental, humorous, and compassionate with her clients. She is comfortable with allowing clients to “drive the car” while she “holds the map” and advocates strongly for client-centered care. Joni works from a trauma-informed, strengths-based, collaborative approach to empower and partner with clients to meet their goals. She is excited and passionate about her clients’ growth and strives to help every client feel validated, understood, and hopeful that change is possible.
