Cori Frankenberg-Meixner, CT
My name is Cori and I’m a counselor trainee and working towards my master’s in clinical mental health counseling from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
I was drawn to this field while working in the professional sports industry for over a decade. Working with a diverse group of athletes, their families, and the community fueled my desire to explore the many intersections that mold our identities and how those identities shift, expand and evolve over time. I believe that regardless of the societal box we’re placed in, our story is uniquely ours – part of the beauty of what it means to be human.
Services and Areas of Focus:
I work with teenagers, college students, and adults in the areas of anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief and loss, ADHD, communication and relationship issues and evolving identities.
Approach and Treatment Orientation:
I have a psycho-dynamic background, which means we look at how your past experiences shape your current world, though I also incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Rational Emotive Behavioral Theory (REBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS), all through a multicultural lens.
Whether it’s unpacking the past, trying to stay rooted in the present, or preparing for the future, I will work within an integrated framework in order to best support clients of all backgrounds explore and embrace their many layers. I look forward to the opportunity to walk with you through whatever insight you may be seeking – we can look together!
When I’m not studying about the beautiful complexities of the mind, I enjoy spending time with my son, husband and our fluffy dog.
