Janie Hernandez, LPCC-S

Janie is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. She obtained her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Akron and her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Applied Conflict Management from Kent State University.

Janie has years of experience working in the mental health field as a Licensed Professional Counselor and working with youth in various behavioral health settings. Janie practices from an integrated approach of counseling while focusing on an individual’s strengths. Janie incorporates expressive therapies and believes in the importance of collaboration in the counseling process to work towards achieving treatment goals. She received training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) through the Beck Institute and incorporates CBT techniques along with other evidence based practices such as mindfulness and motivational interviewing into her counseling approach.

Janie has a passion for supporting individuals through difficult life transitions and especially enjoys working with the college population. She also has a passion for working with individuals struggling with postpartum adjustment and depression, career changes, interpersonal conflict, anger management counseling, providing emotional support to parents of children with developmental disabilities, and helping individuals struggling with substance use.

 

Janie provides counseling to individuals of all different ages, backgrounds, and sexual orientations and treats individuals suffering from an array of mental illness and substance abuse disorders, with a special interest in providing support to individuals struggling with anxiety.
