Shawn Finley, CT

I am a licensed Counselor Trainee (CT), graduating with a master’s in counseling from Southwestern College, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. My goal is to create a safe space for clients across the adult lifespan, from young adults to middle age and elders.  My special interest is healing the trauma born from a single event as well as working with complex trauma histories

After practicing architecture for 20 years and moving toward becoming an empty nester at home, I began reading about different therapy modalities and dreaming about a “second act”. My late-in-life career change has brought a transformation that allows me to practice in the area of one of my greatest interests – the internal world of the body and mind.

My approach is person-centered, meaning I have a deep respect for your “inner knowing”, your innate expertise on who you are, and in my ability to help you discover more. The approach that I am most drawn to is Internal Family Systems, studying and working with the many parts of ourselves that make up who we are.

I like to conceptualize therapy through the whole-person lens, I believe that we experience the world by perceiving it through our bodies, our minds, and our nervous systems –  this is the place where we hold trauma and to me the place to start unlocking the pathway forward to your individual healing journey.

Looking forward to our journey together and creating a treatment plan designed to help you better understand your parts, your internal world and work toward the change you need to lead a happy and fulfilled life.
